Can coir mats be cut to size?
Yes, our PVC Backed coir mats can indeed be precisely cut to meet your specific dimensions with a tape measure and a stanley knife, ensuring that coir coconut matting is a perfect fit for your space. All our orders are sent with a care and fitting guide to help.
While coir matting cut to size is fantastic for ease, simply order the size you need and drop it in place once it arrives. Our coir matting by the metre range provides a more cost effective solution to those that are wanting to cut it to size in situ.
Offering coir mats by the metre allows customers to purchase larger, uncut segments of matting, which is especially beneficial for covering expansive areas or for custom projects where unique shapes or sizing might be required. Does coir matting need underlay?
PVC backed coir matting typically does not require an underlay, as it has unfinished edges, they are designed to sit in a mat well/recess. This will keep the mat in place, along with protecting the edges of the mat that are unfinished. Most coir mats that you see in matwells/recesses come with a sturdy backing, such as PVC, which helps them stay in place and adds additional strength, reducing the need for an underlay.
What is the thinnest coir matting?
The thinnest coir matting available is 14mm thick, this is our
Premium grade, this matting is made from the natural coir fibre with a PVC backing. If you need a mat that this thinner, then we have our synthetic fibres alternative which is 10mm thick offered as '
Soft Man Made Coir Matting'. This matting is ideal for areas with low clearance, such as between the floor and a door opening, or in shallow mat wells. It is designed to mimic the natural brush action of traditional coir but is softer underfoot due to its looped pile structure, making it a practical choice for indoor use where minimal space is available. This thin matting ensures that even when space is limited, the functionality of a coir mat is not compromised.
Are there different qualities of coir matting?
Yes, there are 3 different qualities of coir matting available to cater to various needs and preferences. Coir mats come in many grades, qualities, sizes, and thicknesses, suitable for both light residential use and heavy commercial applications. For instance, a lower-priced coir entrance matting may be sufficient for short-term, light use, whereas a commercial-grade coir matting, made for durability, will withstand heavy foot traffic and last for years.
