Black 23mm thick PVC backed coloured coir matting. Hardwearing and long lasting coir has a strong brushing action to remove dirt from shoes helping to protect your floors. This coloured coir matting is excellent for use in a mat well and very easy to trim with a sharp knife.

For mat wells deeper than 23mm simply put a piece of plywood of the appropriate thickness into the well and place the mat on top. Ideally, the top of the bristles should lie flush with the floor to minimise the risk of tripping.

Our Coloured Coir Matting is best for indoor use, where the colour can be chosen to complement your décor to give a very stylish finish. We do not recommend using a PVC backing finish coir outdoors where it may get wet, as the colour may run. For outdoor use under covered porches, a better option is a woven-backed coir mat.

Please note all coloured PVC-backed coir are produced from natural un-dyed coir (coconut fibres), these fibres are brown in colour. The coir is then dyed with the desired colour. As there are differences in the various natural coir fibres, this does mean that the dye can take in varying amounts to the fibres. This is just the nature of the natural fibres, and something we are unable to control.

Our Black Coir Matting - PVC Backed - 23mm Thick is cut to size the next working day here in our Lincoln workshop. It is then packed and put on a next working day delivery.

We send all our orders via DHL and you will receive a tracking email from us by 5pm on the day of despatch.
We ask that you provide a mobile number with your delivery address. We pass this number over to DHL as they will text you with a time slot of when your order should be delivered. If you do not provide us with a mobile number an email shall be sent instead.

At the point of placing your order, you can state a safe place to leave your order if you are out, or you can opt to leave it with a neighbour.
Within the DHL text or email providing your timeslot, there is the option to rearrange delivery or have it sent to a service point to be collected from there.

Are coir mats waterproof?

Coir doormats are made from natural coconut fibres, they can easily remove excess water and dirt from shoes. However, if excessive water pools the mat, it can lead to rotting. Therefore, the ideal solution is to keep your Black Coir Matting indoors to maintain its durability and appearance. Woven-backed coir mats can be kept outdoors under a shelter to protect them from direct exposure to rain.

How thick is a standard mat?

The most common Coir Mat thickness is 17mm thick. However, extra or reduced thickness may be needed in certain scenarios. For instance, you may have a mat well or recess much deeper or shallower than 17mm, then we would recommend purchasing a mat at the thickness of the recess. If you cannot find a thickness that perfectly suits your recess, we recommend sizing down and packing out the mat well with plywood or something similar, ensuring the mat sits flush with the floor.

Can coir mats be cut to size?

Yes, PVC Backed Coir can be cut to size. Made from natural coconut fibres, coir matting is highly versatile and can be easily trimmed to fit specific areas. Its dense, thick construction ensures that it retains its durability and functionality even after being cut. Using a sharp utility knife and trimming along the backing side, you can achieve a precise cut to match your desired dimensions. This makes pvc backed coir an excellent choice for custom spaces, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.
